She takes over from Carlos Martinez Riera, who unfortunately had to step down as chair due to a change of job.

Martijntje Bakker will build on her many years of experience with JPI’s and mission orientated research funding to guide the JPI HDHL through the coming time.

Martijntje Bakker is co-director of ZonMw, The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development. Within the organisation she is responsible for international collaboration and strategy development.
In the past she has worked at Universities (with a PhD in health sciences), local government and national funding organisations. Martijntje Bakker also represents the Netherlands as MB member of JPI AMR and JPI MYBL.

Minna Huttunen, MB member for Finland, has agreed to join the chair, Oliver Mayer (Austria) and Erika Ax (Sweden) on the JPI HDHL Steering Committee. The Steering Committee deals with the daily management of the JPI HDHL and urgent issue, working closely with the secretariat. It has been decided to not appoint a vice chair for now, but that the chair will be supported in her work by all members of the steering committee.

JPI HDHL would like to warmly welcome Martijntje Bakker as the new chair of the JPI HDHL and wishes her all the best!
